Design and Construction of IDRIS Lateral Interceptor Sewers (Contract LIS-01)

The contract LIS-01 is a part of the package 1 “Lateral Interceptor Sewers” under the Inner Doha Resewerage Implementation Strategy (IDRIS) Programme as a world class solution developed by the Authority to upgrade and expand the sewerage infrastructure in order to accommodate the project population growth for an additional 1 million people in Doha’s oldest area - south catchment (around 680 km2). The IDRIS scheme is comprised of a number of Lateral Interceptor Sewers (LIS) that will be used to intercept flows in the existing high-level system and transfer them to into a new deep-trunk sewer; thereby, relieving the existing overloaded system.

The LIS-01 site location is in Central Doha (within Doha South). The site is a highly developed urban area with relatively flat topography ranging from (+3.9m to (+)15.3m above the Qatar National Height Datum (QNHD). The alignments typically follow existing roadways and will cross a number of existing and proposed utilities.

The Works comprises the design, construction, testing, commissioning and handing over the following:

Sewer line (sizes from ID300mm to ID2000mm using micro tunnelling method) :23.9 Km

Diversion Chambers:  170 nos.
